whats the dumbest thing you've done during installation

i was hooking up my power wire to my battery, and i had one of those side post lugs. i decided not to disconnect the battery. i was tightning the bolt on my battery and i dropped the ratchet. the ratchet was still touching the battery terminal and it fell on the aluminum a/c lines coming out of the compressor. well sparks went flying and i ended up with a whole in the line and all of my refridgerant leaked out.

hooking up an amp i had used red 4 ga cables for the ground and power. I was not very smart like and did not put something on one of the wires so i could tell them apart. Well i ended up hooking the pos to the neg of the amp. And the ground to the pos of the amp. I sat there stumped for about an hour. I blew 15 fuses. I thought it was the amp so i went to the place i bought it from and complained to them that it kept blowing fueses. So they are like we will send someone out in 10 mins to check it out. So i went out to my car to wait patiently. So Then i decided to check all of my wiring and realized that i hooked the wires up bassackwards. Hooked up right and never blew another fuse up to the day i sold that amp.

I was sixteen and it was my first amp and speaker. To make a long story short I stripped back about a foot of ground wire and wrapped it (like you would a string around your finger) around a painted trunk torsion bar. Needless to say the amp didn't power. And I never figured it out. I asked my dad to come see what I did wrong. He looked at what I did, and slapped me.(lol) He fixed the problem and I was good to go.

I was 16. Used a socket wrench to disconnect the battery. Wasn't watching, ended up bridgeng the terminals. Wrench was like, welded to it. I ran FAR AWAY. SMOKE - LOTS OF SMOKE. Then.......the battery exploded. Smelled awful. Baking soda took care of the rest.

I watched a guy put his Batt. wire into ground terminal on kicker amp. Smoke billowed out. I cracked up.

Dumbest thing I've done:

1) Hooked +'s and -'s backward

2) Shocked myself

3)Poked a hole threw my old comp. Vr

a couple years ago...i was putting my interior panels back on and drilled a screw right into my power wire. took a while to figure out what i did to make it blow fuses right away, lmfao.

After I had fixed the mistake I made with wiring my HU I went to rewire my toggle switch. I some how managed to hook my toggle switch to my head lights. So i would go and turn on my toggle and nothing would happen. I then for some reason turned on my lights and boom, my amp turned on. I was like ://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif: so i turned my lights back off, and off went my amp. After a little amazement and being quite proud of my self I found the problem and wired my toggle right. I thought it was pretty cool how i wired it but i did end up wasting 10 fuses. Owell, i can now confidently istall my HU in any GM vehicle now lol. Was fun stuff, well not when i was blowing fuses but i think it was funny now...
