Whats Fair?

since when did recone kits have switched polarity, the only way him himself reconing it coulda switched polartiy would be crossing the tinsel leads and soldering them to the opposite terminals.. which if he did it woulda been noticeable right?

I personally know slapinthetrunk and have been talking to him about this situation.

He is a great guy and I can vouch for everything he has said so far. I have seen the exchange of messages and the seller never mentioned the reversed polarity. To slapinthetrunk- I recommend you post a screenshot of all pm's to confirm this to all the members here.

Personally, I feel you should get a full refund and the seller should pay return shipping. That's definetely what I would want had it happened to me. Some people are saying it's partially your fault for not checking polarity first- but honestly I dont' think that's YOUR responsibility when you are buying what you think is a 100% working sub. The huge majority of people buying used subs here i'm sure don't check this before trying out their subs, and they shouldn't have to.

On the side of the seller: I know who the seller is, and have looked at his profile and he hasn't logged in since last month, hence he clearly hasn't had a chance to see/respond to this thread. He does seem to be fairly reputable with a large post/ref count, so hopefully he will get back to us on this.

the seller thought he told him.. we will see what the seller says.. and any proof of pm's..
I am the seller and he told me that the sub was only hooked up for a minute on 1000 watts, but he also sent me a message saying he wired a dual 1 ohm sub DOWN to 2 ohms, how do you do that????

heres a copy of the pm i sent when I purchased the sub from Zuesilicous

Cool, I'm glad you got it in good condition, the crate of my MT haha. When david @ RE send me the recones, he always write the name of the motor to void any mistake. Imo you should go at 30-33 hz, Avalanche was good for the lows. I didn't get notice of the gasket haha I don't know what happened , but even if it rubs there's no problem at all cause is with the external part of the surround.

Thanks for the deal and enjoy it.

Feedback is in my sig.

Chris

Im not worried about the rub Im worried about it sealing right and looking ugly as it dosnt sit on the rim of the sub correct. Did you ever get the Avalanche's sold cause I did want the blue one, how much would you sell one for if you still have them
It will seal correctly since they seal with the back part of the gasket, The once that goes between the basket and the box.

The best price that I can do for the Avalanch is $250 plus shipping. I used all the original parts.

Wasup man, ran into a problem the other day, finally got my taxes in and went out and got a amp for that 15 and when I hooked it up it barely moves at all and after a couple secconds there was a burning smell comin from the coil so I just disconnected the thing, I thought it was kinda stiff when i first got it but i took it as the spiders had not been broken in yet but apparently theres something wrong with the sub, please get back with me so we can work something out, I realize its been a while since we traded but my internets been cut off and even if it was on I didnt have a amp that was 1 ohm stabel to run the sub with so I wouldnt have found out until last saturday anyway

Hey whats up man.

Which amp you bought? tell me all the details.

The Sub was a SX Motor with MT Parts (stiff spiders) When I finish all my recones I always test the subs free air to make sure everything is ok with them and I did it with yours too, everything was just fine, not rubing at all, although was stiff cause the stiff spiders but once you broken in the sub was going to be ok. To be honest with you seems like you did something wrong... It doesn't make sense, What could be go wrong with the sub? defect coil? Ask somebody else (person who know about recones please) and you'll see... Kinda weird but I dont think that sub had a problem man.

I understand your position and I can help you a lil but no because I did something wrong just because Sucks what happened. If you want you can send me the Sub back and I'll see what's wrong with it, I'll hook you up with a new recone for half price which is around $60 bucks but you need to take care of the shipping cost.

You also can ask David (psi) I buy all my recones from him, he can tell you what was the problem.

Chris

He DID do his wiring correctly, the fault was in the subwoofer itself, not the way the OP wired it up.
back to my original point, he should have popped the coils with a 9v batt before hook up.
you guys are very true BOTH, but there is no way in hell that he damaged the coils running it like that for under a minute at low gain with the volume not up off of only 1000 watts like he told me, I have the text messages on my phone and can send them to anyone that wants to see em.

this is my conflict in giving a refund because as you can see in the pictures I sent you (would you post the pics please) the coil was perfectly fine before I shipped it to you which was AFTER I hooked it up wrong and tested it 3 seperate times and then got it hooked up right and it was wanging for 4-5 months or whatever it was that I had it hooked up

i can assure you it was played for less than a minute. the loudest it was turned up was 12 out of 35 and that was only for about 3 to 5 seconds because we wanted to see if it would move because i thought i was underpowering it

I didnt think it was my responsibility to check a sub with a 9v battery. ive never even heard of doing that before. I just assumed that everything was normal with the sub and that positive was positive and negative was negative

I recently bought a sub off of a member on here that is a dual 1. The sub was wired up correctly to have a 2 ohm load. When I first started playing the sub it barely moved, but i thought it was just because i was underpowering it. After less than a minute of play time on low volume, i feel the sub and it is very hot and smells. I didnt know what the problem was so i contacted the seller and asked what was wrong and he asked me if i switched the wires, because he sent me the sub with some wires hanging on it. I said i did because i was wiring it in series and the way he had it wasnt. Then he told me that when the sub was reconed the terminals were switched up on one side and he thought he told me, but he didnt. After he told me that, i wired it up with the switched up terminals and found out that the sub had blown. I am just wondering what is fair. I asked for a refund and i would pay return shipping, but he thinks that is not fair.
edit: I forgot to add that he said that the same thing happened to him, but once he wired it up the right way the sub was fine.
Have him pay you 80% of the price of a recone. ANd never EVER do business with him again.

I am the seller and he told me that the sub was only hooked up for a minute on 1000 watts, but he also sent me a message saying he wired a dual 1 ohm sub DOWN to 2 ohms, how do you do that????
what do you mean. i have a dual 1 Fi BL in my car right now wired to 2 ohms from my zx1000

So, you are saying you wired the sub CORRECTLY to your desired 2 ohm load, but then all of a sudden it WASNT correctly wired?
Although not knowing that the terminals were switched is effed up, it is OBVIOUS when a sub is wired wrong/out of phase. VERY obvious. Obvious enough to where you should have known something was wrong before deciding to play it and mess it up.
