Whats Fair?

A "normal" person may not, but someone with:•Front Speakers: Phoenix Gold rsd 65cs 6½" components

•Front Amp: Kicker ZX550.2

•Sub: Adioque HDC315 D1

•Sub Amp: Kicker ZX1500.1

•Alarm: Python 2 way 1 mile range with 4 extra sirens

•Alternator: 170 amps upgraded from 55

•Battery: Optima Yellow Top

•Box: Fisher Custom (in progress) 4.2 cubes 36hz

all that should IMHO
that dosnt mean anything, I have had fi, dd, and a bunch of other subs and decent audio equipment and I didnt know how to test the sub when I bought it, BUT i check and double checked the wiring, then tested it with the DMM and when the coils still read the right impedance I then asked the guy that I bought it from and he told me how to check it.

After that I didnt have any problems with the sub, the thing was in mint condition when I sent it to him, and since he didnt post the pics I will, the subs tensil leads hadnt even worn a good grove in the felt pads on the cone and they never even touched the spider at all, but the supensions loose???? I also noticed you said on the first page the sub was sideways in the box when it arrived, why didnt you say anything about that when we were texting on the phone before you made this thread

I do admit that I honestly forgot to tell him about the terminals but thats also why I left the wire I had them hooked up with on the sub. I think you wired the sub down to .5 ohms and that extra juice along with the reversed polarity is what caused the sub to smoke but I still dont see that extra jucie smoking that sub hooked up 2 a zx1000 even backward for less than a minute at 1/3 volume

Sorry to heard what happend to the Sub and too bad you don't know or you don't have a 9v battery to check the coils like almost everybody does.

Please dont tell me the sub was only hooked up for a minute on 1000 watts because I bet you dont even know how measure the watts of your Amp... Can't belive you didn't get notice something was wrong when you have 1k+ crazy excursion sub + no sound at all.... Thats common sense bro.

I'm pretty much local and I can drive half way to recone the sub for you if you buy the parts.

I joined the forum to learn about car audio, because I was clueless on the topic. Ive learned a bit about audio but never picked up the 9v battery check. All I know is I thought i was buying a sub that had everything in the right place. If it was we wouldnt be having this problem. I also know that i did have the sub hooked up for less than a minute on low volume. I have witnesses from where it was hooked up. I even went back to double check on the time frame that i gave and they said that it was for sure less than a minute.

^ thanks for the offer. i may have to take you up on it

Let me see if I got some parts available and if I do, I'll help you out cause was my fault since I build it... Chris doesn't even know but I'll be more than happy to help you guys work this out....

just curious, does the sub make the scratching noise when you push it or when it plays and can i get a vid of it playing (or not) n pics of the coils, dont get me confused bro, im not saying its your fault for the terminals or the sub getting blown, but I trully belive your lying about HOW you blew the sub be it the equipment or the amount of time played or you actually having it at 2 ohms instead of .5.

The fact that you said you had someone else install it and it was a dual 1 ohm wired DOWN to 2 ohms makes me really wonder what load you had it at,

I can give you 40 in 2 weeks which is around half of the recone price but thats the best I can do, and I need to see a vid of the sub getting wall socketed to death before I do that just to make sure your not taking me for a ride here

Your a good man Charlie Brown;), Oh and for all of you out there bashin the reconer, it was a honest mistake that anyone could have make while putting the terminals on the basket and I wouldnt hesitate to do business with him again

since when did recone kits have switched polarity, the only way him himself reconing it coulda switched polartiy would be crossing the tinsel leads and soldering them to the opposite terminals.. which if he did it woulda been noticeable right?
it wasnt the leads, it was the actuall terminal that got turned around when it was mounted to the sub

I personally know slapinthetrunk and have been talking to him about this situation.
He is a great guy and I can vouch for everything he has said so far. I have seen the exchange of messages and the seller never mentioned the reversed polarity. To slapinthetrunk- I recommend you post a screenshot of all pm's to confirm this to all the members here.

Personally, I feel you should get a full refund and the seller should pay return shipping. That's definetely what I would want had it happened to me. Some people are saying it's partially your fault for not checking polarity first- but honestly I dont' think that's YOUR responsibility when you are buying what you think is a 100% working sub. The huge majority of people buying used subs here i'm sure don't check this before trying out their subs, and they shouldn't have to.

On the side of the seller: I know who the seller is, and have looked at his profile and he hasn't logged in since last month, hence he clearly hasn't had a chance to see/respond to this thread. He does seem to be fairly reputable with a large post/ref count, so hopefully he will get back to us on this.
I do appreciate the fact that you did some research on me before you just came in slinging a uninformed opinion around and bashing my name such as the other guy who is telling people to never do business with me again even tho he dosnt know me OR the seller

yea ill get a video asap. yesterday i showed 7ender how everything was hooked up and how it made a scratching noise when you pushed down on the cone. About the 2 ohm load, i have my dual 1 sub wired in series so it is running off my zx1000 at 2 ohms. I hooked it up yesterday to show 7ender how it played when it was wired correctly. The very first time it was hooked up i double checked all of the wiring to make sure everything was correct. It was wired in series correctly if the terminals were in the right place. I even went back to the place and double checked the time of play that i stated and he agreed.

and people dont get me wrong he was a great seller, it was just an honest mistake and that's why i didnt want to include his name in this thread.
