What's a good 10" sub to push 250 watts with?

not looking to win any competition. Helping a friend put together something better than stock.

The fronts, we've opted to go for a CDT CL-61A for the fronts. he already have a MB Quart DTE-169 for the rear. A friend gave him a fosgate 501x.

For what he's looking for, he only want to work with what he has. So I need to find a sub that would handle 250w @4 ohms nicely since we're using the 501x to power the fronts and bridging the rear to power the sub.

what it be considered more of an SQ sub or an SPL sub? I think he's looking for clean bass. accurate and tight. Seems like they're going for around $115 + shipping from SSA store. Any cheaper sources?

Dayton Reference HF. It's very cheap and the 12 inch version performed admirably on a Klipper test machine. These are well known in home audio circles as relatively high fidelity subwoofers with low price, but should work in car just fine as well. I did some modeling with them in WinISD, and it seems like, given their xmax of 12.5 mm, there is not much point to give them more than 250-300watts.

Dayton Audio RSS265HF-4 10" Reference HF Subwoofer 4 Ohm 295-460

you may want to give it a sealed box between 0.7 and 1 cu ft.

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage
