Whats 140dbs suppose to sound like?

Serious question...why so many watts needed to to hit what I hit with 500w on two 12's? I hit 144 in a S-10 blazer (don't remeber the decimal point) on two W3v2's and a 500/1. Each 12 was in a generic ported box. They weren't built specifically for the sub.

The box isnt right for the subs(too big, wrong tuning, etc.) we had it laying in the shop and decided to put it in the Jeep, we have a new one in the works, shooting for high 140's/low 150's.
