What would you do if someone broke into youre house while you were there?

3/4 of the people in this thread wouldent do anything but call the cops, but to the other 1/4, dont honestly believe you can shoot someone for simply breaking into your house... check with your local police first, because 9 times out of 10 , you simply cannot shoot someone for trying to steal something from you, ESPECIALLY if there back is turned or as there trying to escape
Never shoot someone in the back. But if the intruder were to show any kind of threat towards me or anyone in my house.....I will let a few 3" magnum rounds fly.

Happened to me while I was at my cousin a few years ago. I was sleeping on the couch, and I heard the kitchen sink running, so I get up, look out there, and there's this f-ing guy standing at the sink. At first I was just looking at him, there was a party at my cousins house so I wasn't sure who he was, he could have been a person that was at the party. By then my cousin came down( I guess he heard it?), he screamed "what the f*ck are you doing" to the guy. The guy dove out the back window. As he was getting out, I reached under the cushion where I had placed a little .380 that I had on me that night and let off a shot. I don't think I was really aiming to hit the guy or nothing, just to scare him more than anything I guess.(I was still a little drunk, still half asleep, and confused like a mofo at what was going on)
I'm not a chump or anything, but I'm not gonna lie, when I realized the guy wasn't supposed to be there, I was spooked. I guess it was just waking up in that situation. It's a weird feeling, for weeks, even when I was back at my own house, I didn't want to go to sleep in case someone broke in.

Turns out the f-er was washing up in the sink, he cut himself somewhere on the back window, there was blood on the glass.

My cousins dad is a cop, so he called him to see what to do, and my uncle called in saying that an officers family needs assitance or something. Tons of cops were there in like 3 mins., which if you have ever seen philly cops reaction times, is pretty good. Turns out, whoever it was was hitting house all over the neighborhood.
its a normal feeling. try getting shot at...

As with most things, it all depends on the situation. I am seriously thinking about purchasing a pistol. my security light has been turning on for no apparent reason.

I think that you can shoot them if they are in your house unless you are in the state of tennisee I cant have a gun so if they broke in would call the cops I would not go after them and I am a big boy 9 times out of 10 they are packin a gun

actually , now this is just me, but if i was a crack head out stealin stuff i wouldent carry anything that could be construed as a weapon on me... that just adds extra charges if you get caught...

i remember seeing on court TV how people would commit non-violent acts of theft and whatnot and usually end up on probation

Its very situation dependant. Im not sure if you've ever been around a tweaker but they can be VERY unpredictable. Thats why the only mercy id show is to follow my instructions, if they choose not to listen. I see that as intent to be a threat, they are already trespassing, and im not sure if they have any weapons but I sure wont wait to find out the hard way. Id much rather point the gun at someone while they lay on the floor until the police arrive and remove that person, but if they choose not to listen its going to be the alternative.
