What wattage should I apply??

I have a Alpine SWS-1242D 12" Sub mounted in a generic 1.25 cu.ft. sealed enclosure. Now the tricky part is the specifics. I am wondering how powerful an amplifier I should couple to this sub. Would any specific amps be better that the rest for this job? If the choice for a sealed box hasn't allready told you I'm in it for Quality of sound over Quantity. Also, what should I ride the max RMS at for this setup. I'm not completely new to car audio but this is my first time on this forum, and any help comments or feedback would be really appreciated. Specs say it's max RMS rides 300 watts, and 900W peak (like it means anything). How much power should the amp I couple to it produce at Max RMS?? And again any helpful comments ar appreciated.

Right about $300 give or take, it really all depends. I still need to replace my old JBL 6 1/2" 2 ways all around as well so I'm wanting to save some to put into that. Just another lil' tidbit of info, I'm not into car audio for show, and I don't really plan on it either, however I am a HUGE audiophile, so whatever gets me the best sound quality is choice! Doesn't need to be flashy or showy. (The type-s was actually a gift)

My friend in the car audio industry just suggested to me this amp the Alpine MRP-M350. At first I was skeptical, but from all the reviews I've read of how this thing is largely under-rated. I still would like any input though (especially if you know anything about this amp)

Ahh, OK now that you put it that way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif So i want to find an amp that makes 300W @2ohms even though the sub is a 4ohm dual VC? I just wanna make sure everything is perfect.

Also, is there anything else in that range you would suggest??
