What type of screws are best?

I'm making a false floor out of 5/8 mdf and i'm trying to figure out which screws are best to hold down amps and accessories to the wood or if it would be better to buy birch plywood and use some wood screws?

Wood screws are fine to use with MDF. I like using coated deck screw with the torx head, but you don't need that beefy of screws to hold amps down. I'd recommend putting rubber washers on both sides of the mounting foot to reduce vibrations.

I would use Birch, simply because the screw holes won't wallow out as easily plus you can tighten the screws down good without so easily stripping out the wood. I dunno how many times I would use a screw in MDF and it would never tighten OR use T-Nuts if you prefer MDF.

I use plastic washers on top, but rubber would work too. I just dont like marks on my equipment.

Coarse drywall screws work well with MDF. Make sure you properly countersink the holes so you don't split the board.

Alternatively, tee nuts with a bit of liquid nails or other adhesive applied to them, then hammered into place works really well. Then you can easily thread a bolt or machine screw in from the other side as often as you'd like without damage. It's more work, but worth it.

Drywall screws will break heads off.

Again, thank you all for the help! I'm liking the t-nuts idea and will be using those to mount everything. With the liquid nails, Umbra, do you mean putting some on the base of the t-nut or in the screw hole?
