What to set Bass Boost, Freq and Gain to when using a subwoofer RCA level controller?

I've just received this: Image link.

I'm going to use it to control the bass on my Edge EDB12A subwoofer.

What should I set the subwoofer's Bass Boost, Frequency and Gain knobs to, before I control the bass level via. the RCA level controller?

Gain-can't say, it's up to the head unit you are using

Freq- again, can't say. Every install is different. 70-80 is a safe spot

Boost- never use

It's a basic Philips CE152.

You set your gain according to the preamp voltage of said head unit, typically the higher the better.

The head unit manual states the "pre-amp output voltage" as 2.0V.

Run a test tone at 40hz and slowly turn the gain up until you hear distorion. It will have more of a buzz in the sound. When you get that turn it back down until it goes away

But make sure your head unit is sending a clean signal. Usually use around 3/4 volume. Dont just crank the volume full.
