Box placement

So after reading a few posts on here about where to position the box, I moved mine closer to the hatch, played put on, and the steering wheel moved. The output is not as loud as before but the bass is noticeably different. I had up against the back seats prior. Funny thing about that is, if they were moved to where the seat backs would be, there was no noticeable output at all.

A few factors that come into play. diffraction, refraction absorption cancellation and transference all play a role. its pretty difficuilt to just guess but for the most part facing the rear works best..

also depends on how close the box is to the hatch and how much space the box is taking up, if the box is big enough to block the sound from traveling back, it could be an issue as well, one of my bud's has that issue where it got louder pushing it back a bit, his box is a tad too big for his hatch.

I have an 07 Ford edge, box is 5.4cuft gross, 3.5cuft net, below the window line, maybe takes up 65% of the cargo area. Sounds pretty good now, makes me kind of anxious about this zcon sitting in the closet. I have been told that it will be better at music than the reconed MT.

Really? Now I am really curious dude. Can I get by with a similar sized enclosure? If not, I can keep the same foot print but maybe 3-4 inches taller, making about 4cuft net. What tuning would you recommend papermaker? I am at 31hrtz now.

They are going to sound similar but the xcon is going to have lower power coppression more linear thow and should be as loud or louder. Ideally 3.75 tuned to 36 but it's going to be alot more musical in 4 tuned to 32.. if you want alot of lowend 4.5 tuned to 32..

lol i know the feeling. My box fires sub/port up and i had it at the back of the seats. I read with sub/ port up in a SUV you want to move it all the wa back to the hatch. I did it and it didnt appear to have as much output. So i moved it back were i had it originally. i guess its just depends on the vehicle
