I'm runnin an Alpine Mrd-m1005 which gives my 2 10" diamond audio d6's 500+rms each. The enclosure i have them in is the kicker dcvr10, which is actually a very similar box to the one diamond reccomends for my sub. I have tried all different settings, and it just seems to make it them sound worse... They seem to hit too low, and not catch the "higher" freq bass notes. I'm not talking like bass notes for a mid-bass, just in general it doesn't hit high enough bass notes. Because when i turn it loud on a low bass song the sub, you can tell the amp focusing too hard on the very very low notes....now my settings are 72hz low pass and .2 gain out of .1 gain.....and + 10 bass boost out of +16 and it goes down to 0 . I was thinkin to just lower bass boost a tad and to higher the low pass to about 85hz.... I know your askin "why is he using bass boost at all?" well its because im using a line out converter, and im not gettin a great signal as u can guess..... and no a head unit is not an option because no kits are made for my car so please dont suggest one haha... thanks

top surface depth (Inch,centimeters)= 137/16, 34.1

bottom surface depth (in,cm)= 167/16 ,41.8

enclosure height (in,cm)= 14, 35.6

enclosure width (in,cm)= 28 1/2, 72.4

It is tuned to 40hz via a side firing circular port my subs are inverted into that box

Mabey it's because I am high but that chit is hard to read. Anyway, Sounds like you would Like your subs to play more of the upper base octaves. Set your crossover to around 100hz or so. Turn that bass boost down to 0. It will not compensate for what could be a weak signal off of your converter. It will only serve to muddy your bass up. Adjust the gains properly,,,give it a listen and see if you like it.

i did what you said, and when i turned bass boost off, MY SUBS WUD BARELY EVEN HIT!! it was weird, so i turned my gain alllllll the way up and they were kinda hittin, but barely.....im gettin a reaaaaaly bad signal as u can seee. I turned bass boost very low and went from 72 hz to 85 hz, and its not as loud but its a little better....any other ideas??

im using a line out converter....my subs are dual 2 ohm and ive got them wired into a final load of 2 ohms...i think you mean my line out converter but yes its a bad signal....what should i do about it in regards to amp settings

??

If you are giving the subs 500+ watts each they should be hittin pretty strong. The gain on your amp should compensate for a low voltage situation from the LOC. Like he said if your loc has any adjustment turn them up some. Check the wiring going to the subs to be sure they are wired correctly. If you can get your hands on a meter check the output of the amp as described in the gain setting thread. Try disconnecting one of the subs if you can. If you have them wired out of phase cancellation will kill the output of the subs.

I also had the same problemo with my RE SE 12" running off of a jbl gto 1201.1 amp, it would hit HELLA lows, but lacked the "punch" with the bass in rock and drums etc...., but it did hit hard on most rap :p, for me, I rewired my ground, that helped alot actually, it could also be the hu thing, thats why im buyin another one, i mean you dont HAVE to find a dash kit for your vehicle, buy a cd player and set it in the stock slot or somethin n ghetto rig that thing to fit with styrofoam or somethin haha, but yeah man good luck I hope you get that fixed(i know it pissed me off when i was tryin to listen to metal and heard no double bass >.

Also, check and make sure you don't have the amp set to HPF. You want the amp set to:

LPF:70-100 and play with

Boost: none

Phase: 0

And check the wiring for your subs. Depending on your model of subs it should look like one of the following.

From what I read...your going to run 500rms x 2(subs) so that equals 1000rms. Your running them in a 2ohm load so 1000rms x 2(ohm)= 2,000. The sqrt of 2,000= 44.721 That is what you should set your gains at assuming you are running that amount of watts @ 2ohms, without no bass boost or nothing.

Raisedin305, you are counting his subs twice. 500x2=1000, 500x4=2000

provided he us running 1000rms for both subs (500x2) then he needs the square root of 1000, not 2000.

i worked on my system a little today and what i did was put the lpf to 85hz and bass boost off and gain all the way up.....The subs were barely hitting...yes i checked the wiring ground power etc. im almost 100% sure its my signal to my amp, so im gonna get an adjustable LOC soon and see if that helps...so currently my settings are 85hz lpf, bass boost at 8 out of 16, and gain all the way up.... i just keep the bass low on my head unit...
