what should i do?

i just replaced my old kenwood kac-7201 amp with a kicker sx500.2. right after i turned it on i was immediately disappointed. i like the sound quality of the amp more than my old one but im missing the "punch" that i used to have. so now im between buying another sx500( which i'd rather do), or selling it and buying something else?

by the way i have 2 rockford P212d4's

1 amp-450 rms 545 max

1 sub -250 rms 500 max

Set your output with a DMM, maybe the kicker doesnt like your HU RCA voltage as much and is just not making the power you expect?

i have the gain set to 8.5 and the kompressor adj to 1.2db

the kicker is 545 watts max and 450 rms

kenwood was 800 max and 460rms

yeh i know its a little less, but i was guessing the kenwood was older and the newer technology of the kicker would help a little.

the sound isnt bad and it is an improvement over the kenwood sound wise, just wish it was a little louder.

Since the power ratings of both amps are about the same, the Kicker should sound just as loud as your old setup. Most likely it's just a matter of level setting and tuning that you need to play with.

If you want louder though, put your subs in a ported enclosure.

yeh i was thinking about getting a custom vented box made in the near future to match the subs. i just dont want it to rattle like crazy. some people i talked to told me to just stick with a sealed enclosure so it'll sound better.
