What is wrong with Employees?

I am not trying to personally attack you here...as that isn't my style. I'd wish you wouldn't personally attack me either by saying you are disappointed in me.
I think we are comparing apples and oranges here...

You have control to directly influence things such as wage/hours/etc....and in all honesty, I'd love to see your approach.
I didn't mean to personally attack you. You are entitled to your opinion and I am sure you have your reason for having your opinion. What I meant by "disappointed in you" was I expected a completely different opinion. I didn't mean it as a personal attack.

Are we still internet friends? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cuddle.gif.bd1b29c179c0482f8313dbd790b74c94.gif

That is the whole issue here. You can't compare certain industries to others, heck you can't even compare some job junctions in the same industry to others.

That also means that just because you have experience in one small facet of employee management it doesn't give you the perspective to judge all employees and their situations in all industries. There are far too many factors facing companies today to say company policy will always reward employee contribution.

Right...and I think Theiroff had the same opinion...

Because I am usually always pro-business, pro-capitalism the point of view is quite different.

I'd say my POV is highly influenced by working for the govt. When I worked at Lowe's, it was different, as people who did the right things did get promoted...for the most part (there's always some politics).

But as for coming in early...never that. I never had an issue staying late though.

If you fired me for poasting here, I'd flame you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I just won't hire you... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I actually read it all and still cant figure out whats going on. I mean I show up to work like 10min early so they see Im here and know I dont miss out and get on good terms so if I do ever call off they understand. And I mean Im on the internet at BB quite a bit because its so slow and I have already done all my other work so am I in the wrong?
That is up to your manager.

Joe thinks it is wrong, I think its okay. The only people that it really matters to is your management team.

But don't be surprised if the fire you for surfing if they need to trim the bottom line. Even I would fire the internet surfer over the pretend duster.

In my humble experiences, if you show up for work early, if you do your job to the best of your ability
If you show up 10-15 mins early here, you get reprimanded

[\QUOTE] Jobs don't hire you to be individual, they hire you to get done what they need done.

If you do that well you will get what you deserve.

Well why do employers complain if you can get the job done in less the amt of time you are given? Wouldn't that make you a more efficient employee? Wouldn't that make you more valuable?

I agree with most of what flip is saying. I work for my parents and still get treated like a peon. I'm not asking for any ahnd outs bc I work for them, they asked me to work bc they were short staffed

Also, if I show up early even just 10-15 mins, I get penalized and reprimanded

However everybody says putting in your extra time will matter to the employer -- not true. We have a slow season and a busy season. Right now were in the busy season. Last busy season I was working close to 60 hr weeks bc I was still new and didn't have a good grasp on how things went. Over the slow season, I asked to work only PT bc there wasn't 8 hrs of work to do and they didn't want that. So yeah, I would surf and slack off. Now were bakck in the busy season and I get the same amt of work it took me 60 hrs to do last yr done in less than 40. Now that I have a better grasp of how the office works, I'm getting treated worse. They complain that I dnt get anything done, bc I do nothing for more than half the day but I get all tasks done in about 3 hours. I'm not being rewarded for being efficient, I'm getting penalized. There is no incentive for me to work effectivly for 8 hrs a day anymore. Last busy season I got 3 raises in a 5 month span, but since I've improved, I haven't gotten anything but complaints from my employer. People may say I have bad work ethic, but I show up on time, I get my work done -whats bad about that? I work for a small co, so there isn't much else I can do. Everybody basically has one "job" and that's it. I dnt have internet access on my pc, but I have the internet on my phone and that's what I do to pass the time. If employers want employees to get their tasks done, and the employee can do so in 3-4 hrs, why wouldn't they have that employee be PT? isn't the employer the one losing out for having them on FT? The employer has to pay them the extra 4 hrs they aren't doing anything productive, thet provide benefits to FT employees, but wouldn't be required if they only worked PT. Now where's the sense in that?

I'm at work right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
