What is the proper way to break in a sub?

run em pretty hard for about 30 minutes, then cut it off and let them cool down, repeated process.this wil melt the new glue off the voice coils.
Never knew about this???

Just play them like you would everyday, they'll break themselves in.

I toss in some EMNB CD's and watch that bugga move......

I have been noticing my TDX's which I put in last week are getting meaner

every day I drive the Silverado....So in time most subs do loosen up,depending on things like surround materials and thickness etc

TDX's are stiff mofo's,I suspect its going to get alot better......

x2 on what everyone else said, but just be sure not to wang it at full throttle with everything at full volume within the first couple seconds. At least start at low volume and work your way up within a minute or so.

For a very long time I was a blind follower of the myth regarding the necessity to 'break-in' new subwoofers.

I bought my DAT M6 retail 'cause I wanted the warranty and when I took possession of it I asked the manager of the shop I bought it from what kinda treatment it needed for break in. The manager, a heckuva nice guy by the name of Tony, asked me for whatever CD I had handy that hit the hardest and/or deepest. I gave it to him, he put it in my HU and cranked the volume to 27/35. It played for a few seconds and he turned it back down and said, "Yup - sounds good."

Keep in mind that this was the guy that would have to replace it under warranty if he damaged or destroyed it by abusing it so I reckon he felt pretty safe cranking it almost wide open right out of the box.
