Ok, So for the past 5 hours I have been fxcking around with my head unit. Im trying to fix the skipping @ high bass volumes.. If I hold the radio in my hand and plays wonderfully. But if I Put the radio into the dash, screw it in, Turn it up. The SOB starts to skip again. I have Tons of foam padding in the dash, The radio fits in their snuggly. What is the fxckin problem. Is it the Head unit??, Or what else could i possibly do. It doesnt skip over hard bumps. This has been the biggest head ache of my car audio install career.............

not sure about the US market HU's but here u get a 'screw' that holds a rubber cap( its like3/4'' long) that stabilizes the HU on the end part, inside the dash..

has this happened b4 with other HU?

No never, But this is the only unit i have installed in this car. I have installed many radio's in my other vehicles and havent had one issue with skipping. What should I do. Sell the radio and buy another radio.?

You can take a 2/8th inch thick by 2inch wide piece of metal (strap) drill and hole in it and cut it to length. Attach this metal to the threaded bolt in the rear of the deck and bolt it on. It should reach the top of the dash and the lower side of the dash. by doing this it will give you more stability and should not skip. I had to do this in a 96 mazda truck I had.

I kind of by passed that method with the foam padding.trying to backstrap the head unit i think would be a waste of time.. its like once the radio is put back into my dash so far it starts to skip. If its just sitting on my shifter it doesnt even skip then, and there are coins flying up out of my coin cup.

I tried that, works for about a minute, then it just goes back to skipping again. If i tap on the top of the deck it doesnt skip, if i smack it =doesnt skip. Its fxcking weird.

Is it angled when you put it in ur dash?
