I am going to install my 4 ch amp and use it for couple of days..

I was told that I should use 1k Hz tone to set the gain on my 4 ch amp.. I m wondering if I should use 1 k Hz at -3db or 0db??

Also should I disconnect my subs when I m playing this tone? I know this doesnt apply the subs at all, just wanted to make sure.. Just like when I m setting the sub amp, I got to disconnect the subs..

Help would be appreciated, thanks

1khz is good. 0db is the conservative one. Use this one if you want to make absolutely sure you never exceed the rated power. But most music isn't recorded full volume. So -3db is usually the best choice to get the most power.

It isn't necessary to disconnect the sub when playing the 1khz tone. But do disconnect your other speakers.
