What gauge wire?

What gauge of wire would be best for two subs to a 1200 watt amp? My dad is using 16 gauge, and for some reason I think that isn't right since the 16 gauge wire came with the component speakers.

16 awg should be fine. But if you want to be sure, go ahead and bump to 14 or maybe 12. 8 or 10 awg is just overkill for that little of power.

nope sounds more like a box problem.. if its not getting deep it probably needs more airspace... check the subsonic filter and the x-over

16awg is fine though, i always use 12, not cuz i see it being any better.. but because i get it in bulk thats all i have

What are your box specs, and what equipment are you using?

Two 12" Type-R's powered by a HiFonics 1206D. The box is 5 cubes at 32hz. By sealed up I mean caulking the corners and edges inside.

hmmm.... your specs and power seem fine.. basically exactly what i currently have,, although im adding more power in a couple of weeks. Is your power supply sorted? what ga power and ground wires are you using? Which direction are your drivers and port firing? Maybe playing with that and moving things around could give you better results.
