what gauge wire to use?

im running 4 15"s off of a 2250 watt mono block...was wondering what wire would be best? right now im using 12gauge but i dont think its a good idea to push 2250 watts through 12gauge

12 gauge????? what amp ? probably a minumum of 4gauge ..if it was me id run 1/0 with a reducer so i had room for upgrading

you guys arent referring to the POWER wire to the amp right? im talking about amp to subs, i dont even think 1/0 will fit in sub terminals

thought u were talking about power wire ..12 gauge is plenty fine

you would be ok with 12ga as the SPEAKER wire, but up grading the wire would help with impendence rise and help you get more power from your amp. but 12 is ok for speakers. if its just a daily build i would just leave it as is. for spl change it to 8ga speaker wire

Yes we were referring to power wire. 12ga speaker wire from amp to subs is fine but if you can swing some 8ga that's what I would use.

Like everyone else said 12 gauge will work like a charm but 8 gauge wouldn't hurt.
