What fuse to use?

My old amp had 2 15amp fuses in it but the wiring kit that came with it came with a 20amp fuse fitted. I've just been given a mono amp with one 10amp fuse in it and im swapping it with my mate soon for a stereo amp which is what i need. But i also need to know what fuse it would need in the wiring kit for the mono amp so it dont blow up on him.

i will be using a 14 guage wiring kit, what inline fuse will i need?
I think you must be confused regarding the wire size of the kit, at least I hope so, as 14ga is not suitable to use as power wire for such an amplifier. You should be using 8-10 gauge minimum (really 8 min.). Find out what gauge the power wire really is & we can recommend a fuse size.

I might buy a 4 guage wiring kit and use a dist block for my new fusion amp and and cbr12 sub, will that be big enough?
Yes it will, much better than what you have. I didn't know amp kits were sold with such small wire.

So 4 gauge will be fine? Then use 8 gauge wire from the dist block to the amps and use anything from 40-50A fuse in the dist block for my 40A amp. Then for my sub do i add the 2 fuses together and that will be the one which i use in my dist block?

fuses cause resistance ....resistance causes voltage loss...wire the system right and you won't need a fuse....
What is the "right" way to wire a power wire from the battery to the amp without a fuse?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Just had a look at my sub and that only has a 25amp fuse in it, isnt that a bit small compared to this new amp ive got which is 40amp which is going to be used for my door speakers? It has a 35amp inline fuse so my current draw would be around 80amps but this gauge 4 wiring im going to get comes with a 60amp fuse, would it be ok if i fitted an 80amp fuse to it?
