what computer should I use for this?

I want a computer to plug into my tv to watch movies and surf the web, I currently use my ps3 to watch movies via netflix as well as gaming, my only problem is, when I want to play games and someone else wants to watch a movie via usb/netflix. So my solution is to get a basic desktop to plug into my tv strictly for netlix/usb movies and the occassional web browsing so my ps3 is freed up. Ive been contemplating 2 things:

1. Finding basic old desktop, add hdmi output to it and voila. Im good to go (or am I? I need insight here)

2. Find basic barebones computer like this: Amazon.com: SHUTTLE SH67H3 PC Barebone System: Computers & Accessories

What do you guys suggest? The biggest need is an hdmi output, and usb input for a wireless keyboard/mouse.

Any insight/help is greatly appreciated!!

id prefer to buy new, the old computers i was thinking about upgrading are from my father in laws old job site, no idea on specs as of now. Anyone else?

If you own an HDTV you could buy a BluRay player that has Netflix streaming built in.

They can be found for $100 to $150 on sale in many places.

how old is the computer, chances are youd be best if you bought the computer i linked you to as it has a TB of storage, could use more ram, but has hdmi output, and is a complete system(minus the os which you should run UBUNTU)

I think the old one would be fine if that is ALL you are going to use it for...Just got to add a video card that has HDMI out...only problem is it would need to have a PCI-E slot because I am about 95% sure they do not have a VGA or PCI vid card that will have HDMI out...also i have a dell from 2000...1.7ghz P4...1gb ram...750Gb of storage that i use as a small server for back ups and to stream movies wirelessly to my 360...No lag,and no issues what so ever.

Reference...lol sorry. Make a long story short...you dont need a complete power house to get it to do what you need.
