I absolutely HATE the Bass/Treble/Mid adjustements on Alpine HU's.

One giant Cluster F*ck IMHO.

The way they set it up makes it very difficult to know the amount of each frequency you have dialed in, thus making them a PITA to tune.

The skipping is completely a new thing for me though. I could hardly believe what I was seeing, as I have never before had or heard of an Alpine skipping this badly.

I gave up a long time ago. Next unit will be an old M670 from Sony or something.

Now the skipping thing is something I haven't heard of.

i have a Pioneer and think its great

ya, Alpines are really confusing when i go into Circuit City or wherever, i can figure out the Pioneers (7600) with no problem but i could not figure out how to change stuff on any of the Alpines... this may just be because i have never owned a Alpine HU but they sure do seem complicated

Im a fan of the built in EQ's in the higher models of Pioneer. There somewhat complex but very easy to understand and use. Alpine has nice units also.

But in light of something with such a high price tag, I’ve been quite happy with my Denford 8250. My only disappointment has been with the clock feature; everything else has been wonderfully golden.

The Pioneer P9 is configured the same way: 4V RCAs and digital out.

DEX-P9 with DEQ-P9. The best pioneer makes.

the DEH-P860MP and P960MMP are 6.5v. the P9 is only 4v

Yep. I certainly wouldn’t turn down the P9 combo, if offered freely.

My point was simply that Clarion is quite capable of making good head units, even though their cheaper models do not rank top on my list, in their respective price ranges.
