What are my options in this 03 Tauras?

I recently sold my s10 which had a very very nice memphis set up (I was a demo vehicle). Anyway, I go from that to my GF's fully stock 4 door POS 03 tauras. The radio sounds like shit, and it's starting to really annoy me.

So my question is basically, what can be done? The stock headunit is all combined with everything but your nutsack, so I'm guessing if they even make a dash kit for it it's probably 400 bucks. I couldn't find one personally.

Will the stock unit run some decent mids and highs if I just replaced those? I'd really like to get a new head unit though. Any help pointing me in the right direction is much appreciated.

No need for getting a new unit, those dashes are ugly and with a new dash kit, they look HORRIBLE! Go for more of an OEM integration. MTX re-Q would be good. Replacing speakers will definitely help out in sound. Unless you need I-Pod playability there's shouldn't be any REAL NEED for a new head unit.

If it was me I wouldnt use that awful Ford HU, I would get something like this and an aftermarket HU.

Ok cool, that's good to hear..I didn't realize they had those bass signal processors. My first concern is replacing all the interior speakers..could I use an equalizer with the stock HU to get better sound or no? I'm not too familiar with equalizers that aren't built in.

thats only if he doesnt have digital climate control... if he does, you arent getting rid of that stock unit. ever...

check out http://www.taurusclub.com . i used to have an 03, youre choices are very limited in what you can do, unless you want to modify some things. i had 8"s in the doors of mine, with custom kick pannels up front, and i went through many different sub set ups. they are pretty nice cars, but in order to do anything to them its an ordeal, you pretty much have to go completely custom to make it worth the time and effort.

check out http://www.taurusclub.com . i used to have an 03, youre choices are very limited in what you can do, unless you want to modify some things. i had 8"s in the doors of mine, with custom kick pannels up front, and i went through many different sub set ups. they are pretty nice cars, but in order to do anything to them its an ordeal, you pretty much have to go completely custom to make it worth the time and effort.

then yeah, swapping the units should be no problem. although, to be completely honest, when i had my taurus, i wish that i had gone towards the JL cleansweep or something similar.

keeps the nicer looking piece in the dash, and gives you the adjustability to tune your system and get rid of the stock crap. im assuming you have the CD changer in the console? i would really recomend looking into a unit like that, that will save you tons of install issues and difficulties, look nicer (IMO), and will get you the better sound that you need.

lol, I'm probably never going to do anything with this car cosmetically or performance wise. I just need some **** good sounding tunes, and the dark tinted windows for now. I spent enough time and money on the old sten I sold, and i'm not ready to do it again haha.
