What a System consist of?

Alright I'm a newbie to the car stereo business, but I do know alitte about audio, I have my own home theather, but anyway I want to know what does a car system consist of, or what the best configuaration?

I thinking about puting a system in my Toyota Camry 96 and I want to know what should I do. Should I get 4 regular speakers to put in each door and put 2 subwoofer in the back by the rear windshield or should I get tweeters, 2 speakers and 2 subs? And if I do get tweeters where do they go, in the dash by the front window? I have no clue.

Also wanted to know If I'm losing anything by not getting a subwoofer that is enclosed and putting it in the trunk? I don't really want a sub that goes in the trunk, all it does is take up space I will need.

What is the advantage of getting tweeters over regular speakers? Is the only advantage (of tweeters over regulare speakers) the size, allowing you to put tweeters in smaller spaces?

I know I have to get a amp, but where would I mount it?

These are the questions I have as a newbie. Please bare with me fellas and direct me to the right sources for answers.

Thank you.

Charlie

Without focusing on brands, this would be (my) ideal setup:

Up front - a nice set of 6.5" component speakers (separate drivers and tweeters)

Rear fill - Dedicated midbass driver (optional)

Trunk - 1 or 2 subs

If you want to use as little space as possible for a sub, look at http://www.edesignaudio.com - they make great subs that perform very well in small sealed boxes.

Do you have a HU already? And what is your price range for the entire system? And you are looking for loudness, or sound quality?

I'm looking for sound quality and I want a system for around $400.00. Do you know tipically where I would mount the amp? And do tweeters usually go in the dash or the door?

Thanks

Chuckie

Tweeter placement depends on the person....some people like to have them up in the A-Pillar, others like to have them in kick panels facing up at you. I prefer the latter.

As far as amp placement....you can make an amp rack for them, mount them under your seats if you have room, mount them on the box, mount them on the back of your rear seats, etc. etc.

Does the $400 include a Head Unit?

Thanks for the info Jmac. I'm not sure what you mean by head unit, if you are talking about the cd receiver no, the $400 doesn't include that, the $400 included the amp, 4 speakers, and 2 sub.

So would 4 speakers and 2 subs be sufficient, or do I need tweeters?
