Went to a local comp today...

Well, we went to a comp today with a box we through together in an hour and a 15HC only seeing 900 watts or so from an Avionixx 800.2

So, we put it togther- the box was quite ugly, but got the job done. 6.8 ft^3 tuned to 49 hz.

We were in the 0-250 class, so we thought we stood a good chance in that class. Well, we were one of the first to go- and pulled a 143.6 on the dash with a calibrated AC- thought it was pretty good.

As people started getting going and metered, we were shocked by the low scores- kids with 4 15L7's were barely breaking 140...the high of the day was 152 by some kid in a walled off Blazer with 10 10" viper drivers and 4 Viper 2500.1 amps...quite a pathetic score for the amount of cone area/power he was running...

Anyway, we finished 2nd in our class (some kid with a 13W7 and a 100/1 did 144.0), but tomorrow we are going for 144, and we might have scored a 2000 watt amp to use, so people are in for a surprise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There was a kid with an old Mazda pickup with a PHD2 and 2 of the Pioneer SPL subs, and didnt break a 140, pretty bad...

Well, everyone there was either running RF, JL, or Kicker...no one knew what RE was...it was great to see their faces when we ran the first burp....

anyway, wish us luck tomorrow, I'll have an update as soon as we get back...

Some guy also had a wall in his Grand Cherokee, 2 12" Power HX2's, and 4 MTX 81000's, one to each coil- ported, tuned to 45 hz- pulled off a 148...people were ooing and aahing, we were laughing at the scores...I told him next year I guarantee a 155...

It was pretty pathetic, no one there knew what they were doing...

Yeah- it was an older one, with no front end on it...

Where was this comp? And when's the next one?

BTW - there's a guy on one of my Mazda boards who pulled a 147.2 with a single Brahma 10 and 1100 watts, in some sort of transmission-line enclosure.

Ahh, sorry man...it was at Avenue Sound in Patchogue...the high score at the dash was 152.0 by the kid in the Blazer...I told the guy next year that I'm gonna hit 155 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just got back from the second run today, did same exact score all 3 times, 143.6. Then, for shits n giggles, did an Outlaw, and pulled a 155.7- watched a few peoples jaws drop on that one, as they didn't really know what Outlaw was- just saw the score.

Anyway, finished 2nd in our class, and probably 5th overall- not too bad on a single 15HC with only 900 watts...
