weird sub noise

hello i have a wierd problem i installed 2 re 8's ported n each time the bass hits hard...the sub cone expands it makes a wwierd noise...something like its hitting a wall or something...a short hard noise...i cant really hear it when im inside the car...but if i open the trunk n i can hear it clearly...its annoying...can any plz tell me wat it is?????????

If i remember correctly i think ur bottoming out ur sub. But Im not quite sure.

Turn the gain down and the bass boost off.

what is the size of the box, whats the tuning frequency, and where are your lowpass & highpass (SSF) crossovers set to?

Ohh, and what amp you got, and how high you got the gains set to?

My XXX12 was doing this same thing with only 1000w rms in a 33Hz ported box, it still does it kinda, but at more liek 1500w rms instead.... Turns out the SSF on the amp wasnt working properly, and causing uncontrolled cone movement below 30Hz. added a 30hz highpass filter, and it got a lot better...

my jls are doing the same things, but i have to eaither turn the sub volume all the way or blast it over 24 on the reg. volume...but even at 20-22 some songs make the noise..someone told me im causing over excursion but i am yet to have a solution to the problem

also check all your screws. if one of em is out or anything it will cause air to leak and your sound of your system will ****. happened to me with my 8s. forgot to put in 1 screw and it screwed the whole thing.

29 " x 12" x 11 1/2" 2 - Slot Port - 1 1/8" x 6" x 35" @ 32 Hz thats the size of my box.......my amp is a profile ca800 ...about 200 rms per channel .....can it be cause i screwed the amp on top of the boxx?

wat should i set the high low crossovers too?????i have no idea wat to put them too

no, its the subs.

You are over excurting them. Thats why they make bad noises.

Set the low pass just under your tuning frequency.
