ok, so i finally got around to installing the subs/box the other day. first off let me say, they get VERY loud of 225watts a peice. but when the subs hit the lower end freq.(say 35Hz and down or so) it sounds like the subs are made out of flimsy paper if that makes sense/distorted sound. it gets very annoying, especially considering its in the cabin of my blazer.

like i said, it sounds like there made out of flimsy paper/wizzing/distorted noise, and i cant stand it. could this be because they havent been properly broken in? or is it hte subs? perhaps the port on my box because doesnt go the whole length of the box and could be bouncing sound waives back? .....? i just dont know, but i need it to stop. thanks for the help.

also, the gains/wiring where done correctly.

aslong as this would work that is, i ran 10gauge pos/neg to the terminal on the back of the box. than i branched out 3 peices of 12gauge from the +, and 3 peices of 12gauge from the - to acheive a 1.33ohm load.

anyone have similar problems/know what the hell could be doing this?

my box for reference:

they are pressed paper cones.

i have a pair of the 8's on my posession at the moment and in the sealed box i have them in i am hearing some noise when they play low but i think the bad seal between the sub and box is causing that.

i will try to mess with them more tomorrow and see if i can be of any help to you.

i thought the same thing(bad seal) and i ran a bead of silicone/latex sealent around the outside of every subs rubber mounting gasket

can u make a vid of the subs and let us hear this possible air leakand we can see some cone movement as well

i no longer can, because it was stolen awhile back(my camcorder) there making this noise at very low excursion aswell.

I would pop one of the subs out of the enclosure and carefully run it free air with a low frequency sine wave and listen for that noise. If it doesn't make that noise free air, then you know it's related to the enclosure (leak, port noise, etc).

But be very careful running it free air. It won't take any power at all to get it moving substantially.

What about the screw holes? I've heard a sub that had a few small leaks coming from the screw holes, and it sounded a lot like what you describe. Was hard to pinpoint so we just put some silicone on all of the screws themselves and put the screws back in and the noise was gone.
