Here are my specs. I have an Audio Art 200.2RXT capable of 600rms watts at 12v. Its crossed over at 75hz. I have one JL 12W6 version 1. The box is sealed and the dimensions are w=22" h=15" d1=8 d2=6. Around 0.95 ft^3. JL recommends 1.25ft^3 sealed and 2.25ft^3 ported. I cant go bigger then the depth that I have now. I can go up too 47in wide and 20.25in high.

The problem I have is the bass does not seem to get very low. Its very tight which is good, but it does not have much impact. Also there seems to be alot of resonation sound coming from the box. I seem to only notice the higher frequencys and they are very overpowering the rest of the bass. Its very annoying.

What can I do to fix this? Is this just a box problem?

Are there other subs with less then 6in depth that would do better? Keep in mind i am going for SQ but still want impact.

Do I need to do ported to get low?

Box problem.

A smaller enclosure won't allow the cone to exert more or some ish...

well for starters i don't know how bad the lows are but you have 1 12" sq sub in a sealed box, without enough air space. Go up to 2-3 cubes ported and you will love how much louder and lower it will get. You wont lose much sound quality either.

I would try stuffing the box with foam, fiber glass or polly fill. Doing this tends to deaden high resonance and makes the sub think the box is bigger thus producing a bigger sound.

i used these subs in the recommended 1 cubic foot per and it defently wasnt enough, moving up to around 4 cubes made a big differnence, going ported made even more of one lol

Sub boxes aren't sentient beings... it doesn't "think" anything.

It just changes the displacement.

I have a 2008 Tundra Crew Max. I am not looking for deefning bass but would like good impact and sound everyonce in awhile when I turn it up. I found these truck boxes with the 12W6's locally so I tried them. I would like to do either two 10's or 12's. I can only get about 2.5ft^3 max behind my seats vented.

Do you guys recommend two 10's due to box size or one 12?

I am thinking about building a box like this for my truck

If I have to go that big am I wasteing my time with these subs? How do you like the G1's? I could do G1,G2, or G3 10" and still get the right depth.

I have never seen $8 subwoofer boxes, so something has to be wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I wouldn't recommend buying them.
