Weird Smell...

getting a funky smell from my sub. have read that it could be cause it is getting hot but i dont see how my sub could be. seems to be hooked up right and all so maybe there is something i dont know. plus my amp seems to be pretty hot consistantly and i dont know why that would be either...is that normal? running m1005 to a type x 12. what do you think?

prolly because the amp is apparently 1000 rms and the sub is rated 500-1000 rms so its your voicecoil burning or getting hot or its just an electric smell from the amp getting hot try turning the gain down a lil and see if it still smells

1)make sure your amp isnt clipping

2) make sure you arnt reaching the thermal limits of the driver

one of the two is occouring and you will blow your subs soon

gain like sub and bass levels?

cause my bass level is at 0 so it shouldnt be that but ill try it

and what do you mean by clipping? not sure what that is but its like consistantly hot

your most likely driving your amp past its design. The musical signal is being clipped on the top and bottom which causes distortion and heatin of your sub and also excess heating of your amp....read the gain setting sticky

how can i lower the power output on this amp. there is no dial on it or anything. i just got this so i dont know much of anything about it yet. not that i really know anything anyways but im workin on it lol...
