Alright...i got an '85 Monte Carlo LS...i installed my XDVD8181 and it worked perfectly...until i realized it didnt go off when i shut off the car...even without the keys...

So sumbody told me to ground it to a fuse block under the dash...i had started to and then i had to leave so i juss hurried up and wired it back together and mounted it into tha dash again (while i had a movie playin) and when i put it back the sound went out....all 4 speakers just like went on mute or sumthn...

so i pulled it out to see why it did that and then when i did that the power just shut off...and STILL hasnt powered back up...i think i may have shorted tha wires to the car...and the ones to the head unit...because I tried to ground the unit to everything...and it didnt work not once...and i cant even arck a spark no matter what i touch it to...

any suggestions??...thanks...

fuse block is going to be a power source, not a ground.

the black wire needs to be grounded to bare metal, the red to a keyed source and yellow straight to the battery.

Yes...I know that much...

(blk/ground) (rd/positive??) (ylw/battery)

but im saying is it likely that i shorted out both the wires from the head unit and the wires to the car??...I mean none of the fuses popped...In the head unit...so im guessing I somehow ****d up the wires from the wire harness??...

shorted them out or something??...whats the likely hood of that happening...

But thanks for tha info too...and your right...fuses would be a power source....im a dummy...lol...i get tha basics downpacked then once i step my game up...i scratch tha basics...

YA you check the fuse in the HU but did you check the actual car fuses? To see if you fried the HU take it out twist together the red and yellow touch that to the battery + and the black to the - see if it turns on.

you need to stop installing things in your car before you kill yourself. Sounds like you tried grounding your wire on a postive and now everything is fried
No...No...lls...I said I was ABOUT TO DO IT....

I DID NOT DO IT....lol...the ground/fuse box thing...

My power didnt go out until I shoved the wires and the HU in the dash (where it holds the radio)...because i was going to just deal with the whole "it stays running even when my car isnt on" thing later...

okay...so I took my other head unit...and wired it to the car...and it didnt work either...

eliminating the fact (or at least for now) that the problem is something going wrong with my wires...im not getting...yea i might have blown tha fuse now that i think about it thanks whoever told me...lol...ima go check...

I DID IN FACT BLOW THA FUSEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!THANKS A ****N MILLION TIMES!!!!!!!!!!

Itz always the smallest things...lol...this isnt the first time this has happened...or something like it...lol...
