ok well in my system i had before i upgraded the amp.

ok i have a pioneer 8400 mp deck with xm radio and earthquake comps in front and earthquake coax in the rear. for my amp i am using a fosgate 2ch 250a2 running at 2 ohms.

before i had a pyramid (yea shitty amp but it worked) well before i had no engine noise at all.

first i upgraded it with a fosgate 4 channel amp i think a punch 500 i think. well that gave horrible engine noise and the POS would overheat after 20 min. i have on 12 in audiobahn running dual 4 ohm voice coils so it was running the 4 channel at dual bridged one side of the bridge for each voice coil. and it was the same with my pyramid.

now i have a 4 channel autoteck amp i think thats what it is. and it doesnt shut off at all. but i still have engine noise. this has only happend after i upgraded the Sub amp.

so what i was thinking was that if the screws for mounting the amp are touching metal at all would that create ground noise? or would it be something to do with the amps themselves?

the fosgate was taken out of a customers car cause he destroyed his 2 channel that was next to it. and the autotek was hanging on our wall at the shop cause we didnt know if it worked. soi both amps were not brand new.

if anyone has any suggestions it would help alot.

Screws from the amp touching metal could be the problem. Most amp chassis are ground, so it could be creating a funky ground situation (most common alt whine cause).

the rf was bad i had it dual bridged at 4 ohm load to each voice coil.

the autotek works great but it didnt fit right on my amp rack so i had to screw it in a t an angle and i dont know if the screws hit metal or not.

and my old pyramid amp had no engine noise at all so thats why i dont know what the problem is.
