we should arrest the pope...

And there are always going to be those who will take any chance to dump on a group for mistakes that were made. Many in this thread prove that to be true and that is really sad. It has to be tough going through life holding onto all that hate. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If that works for you, more power to you. I'm certainly not going to criticize, but there are many of us who take great comfort in our religion, and if that works for us, live and let live, right?
You can be religious without being involved in organized religion. I think the majority of it is brainwashing and politics, from the few times I have been to a service/mass.

Holy water makes great lube.

Sam Jackson says:

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!!"

It isn't the mob bosses problem that people are out committing crimes and sending him kickbacks either then. However, we prosecute them under RICO anyway.
what kickbacks does the pope recieve after a priest rapes a kid? that comparison is ignorant.

I was certainly not happy when Cardinal Law was reassigned to Rome versus facing our legal system for his responsibilty in all of this mess. But that is Rome and the Vatican, and trust me, I am no fan of the Vatican. They are too far removed from the everyday Church and too drunk with wealth and power.
So if you feel this way, why did you get defensive and argue with me when I said virtually the same thing? Are only Catholics allowed to express their outrage?

Ain't defensive bro, just wanted to make sure you weren't painting all Catholics bad due to some very bad actions of a few. Many of us are not fans of Rome or the hierarchy in general...there is a difference between the laws of man and the laws of God...I'll stick with God. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

The all knowing god loves us sooooo much, that he will burn us in a pit of fire if we don't listen. My mom doesn't even love me enough to burn my face off.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Im not trying to get into an argument about someone's religion here, I just feel that you needing to make sure Im not painting all Catholics as ********** just because I said something that you agreed with like 2 replies later, is you being defensive. Furthermore, if you dont like how the higher ups have handled this situation, side stepping it by abusing their power, Id think you would welcome outside criticism to shed light on the problem instead of sitting back and waiting for the guilty to simply retire. Does God's Law have a statute of limitations?

I think its pretty sad that everyone in the Catholic church has the wrong idea of salvation altogether when it is the largest sect of Christianity altogether. I don't agree with the statement that all Catholics are pedobears, however I do believe the fact that they are misleading a huge congregation of people without even thinking twice about it is pretty unfortunate. Someone do me a favor and go read Acts 16:31 and tell me what it says. And then relate that to what Catholicism says that you have to do to achieve the same salvation. SOOO who would you rather take advice from....God? or some guy that wears a white collar and tries to pass himself off as a more holy figure than yourself......

Catholic Church=EPIC FAIL.......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I'm gonna get flamed hard for that^^.....

Not in my parish...no politics...just a focus on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
From my experience, the teachings given in church go far beyond what higher criticism suggests Jesus actually said.

Anyways, I don't know the legal case against Ratzinger. If you read the letters exchanged, there was clearly a focus on protecting the church first and foremost. Clearly he, and many within the Catholic church, are implicated in the continued molestation of children (and not just old cases in the US, but old and current cases all over the world). However, the Vatican has managed to establish some sovereignty that makes charging and trying the Pope quite a bit more difficult.
