Sup , I currently in the process of learning about systems and etc.. Will be instaling a system in my explorer so far in mind

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9887 + $250

Subwoofer:pioneer Premier TS-W3002D212" Dual 2 ohms Champion PRO Series Subwoofer 1000rms 3500 peakwatts + $140 Each , looking into getting 2 or 3 of them. 100

Speakers: Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6"x9" 3-Way 330W Car Speakers + $120 a pair..I would need 2 pairs

now for the amps im not sure what i would need, or if i need a capacitor or etc..

What else would i need.. or is this a bad set up.. I would like to have the best bang for the buck..

advice or somehelp would be awesome and highly apreciated..

What kind of music do you listen to? Are you just going for boom or do you want clarity? Give me a call at TNT audio we are in Victoria about 2 hours south of you I can help you out. My name is Eric 361-576-6117.

Welcome, I'm over in the Liberty Area...too bad Innovative Rides isn't around any more. Twas the only audio shop I went too over their in Houston, Aaron was awesome. Not a bad setup, stay awhile, I'm sure you will be introduced to the forum boners. And I wouldn't bother with a capacitor, look into sundown for amps.

honestly i would go with two rockford prime 12" s the run about 80 bucks a pop and get the rockford prime 500.1 amp! which would run around 250 and get a ported box! a guy where i live hit 142DB in a 2000 blazer with this set up!! and it would sound really nice in that explorer!

i stay by NW almost in cypress hwy 6 area....

btw does it matter what kind of amp i get? what if i go with something cheap sony? hifonics.. whats wrong with those brands.. whats the diffrence in a 1500 hifonics amp and a kicker or etc....

what about one of these subs

The correct amp for your application would depend on the power needed to supply to the woofers. For your substage you would want a class d monoblock amplifier, make sure its stable at the impedance load your subwoofers will be wired too. As far as the difference in brands, they mostly differ in build quality. I personally wouldn't use any of the newer sony gear, Hifonics would be a good choice for a decent price. Their are members here that are more knowledged then myself and can further help you. It would help a little bit if you gave us a budget to work with.

looking to spend around the range of $1,000 or so around there....

what about the inside speakers.. would i need another amp for those?

Yeah, you would need a 4 channel amp for the inside speakers. Btw, those 6x9's your looking at are actually 110 RMS. Whenever dealing with subs or anything with speakers, always look at the RMS rating, not the peak. Same applies to amps, alot of shit branded amps will list as "5000 WATTS PEAK!!" when in reality its like 200RMS. bunch of b.s. to trick people into bad purchases.

Also, before you go buying everything new, you might want to browse the Classifieds section of this forum. Most of the times you can get better stuff for alot cheaper.

I'm kind of new at car audio.. But I've saved ALOT of money by shopping off these forums.

if your gona go cheap you should look at a good name brand lower line up and a lower wattage quality amp a smaller quality amp will outproform a biger cheap amp pluss it will sound sweet.I like boston acoustic,JL,infinity is also a good brand as long as you dont get the high end infinity, but get componets a seporate tweeter and mid,5by7 and 6by8 deform slightly,so go round.ive got a sport trac so i kinda feel ya on the doors your subs really arent gona be as big a deal in your ride you could put a twelve in a five gallon bucket and hit in an explorer.lol.dont forget to mate up the impedence of your woofers to you amp, stick with a good amp,you can always buy beter woofers, but your amp is what does it.jl makes a great amp,ide rather you buy a good amp and cheap on woofers, you can can buy greats woofers and push em with a cheap amp and itll sound ok but you can push cheap woofers with a great amp and sound good.you should also get an amp with enough power to run at half gain.itll save you alot probs unless your competing, then crank that *****,but when you compete, you gota pay to play, your gona tear stuff up.thats just how it goes, but if you want somthin to last buy power and dont use all of it.ive got an old amp ive had for ten years and it still knockin the rearveiw around cause i run it half gain.hope it all comes together for ya
