want some genuine expert advice on classical music

I recently fell into a trap of upgrading my car stereo after my factory speakers blew out.

To make the story short, i've deadened my doors, bought a new hu, new front components, and now I am looking for a subwoofer that can compliment classical music experince. However, i don't listen just classical, only sometimes.

Anyone know a good sub for classical music? any thoughts will be appreciated.

thanks!!

Nothing anyone recommends here will be "good". You're better off experimenting and figuring it out for yourself.
Yeah, I agree. I just don' t want to experiment i guess. I just thought maybe someone might have an insight on this. well thanks anyway!!

My problem is that I own some really really expensive home audio but crappy car audio.

The problem is with a question like yours is theres no perfect answer, people on this forum will probably recommend you some SPL subs and claim that they're the best, but in reality, your personal tastes will probably disagree....

If he just wants something that'll provide low end to compliment cellos and such he could get by with any number of subwoofers.

Personally, I'd probably get something like a 10" Boston G2 and a sealed box. Inexpensive, doesn't need a ton of power, sounds good and won't take up a hell of a lot of space.

Common suggestions would be the Image Dynamics IDQ or IDMax. On the other hand, I don't always agree with spending more for an "SQ" sub; any sub can sound great in the right box...
****, u know what. i agree. Esp. in a car setting. with so much road noise, i have to agree with you. I just wanted some reassurance. My father said the same thing. He said don't spend too much on it. he said what u gonna do son, sit in a car at some parking lot and listen for hours? btw, my father knows about music, for one thins he's legal blind at birth and been audiophile for 60 plus years. since he doesn't drive, he owns $80,000 equipment home audio. 40,000 dollar speakers alone and really knows he's shit.

Glad you agree. I have some $50 subs in my vehicle and they sound near fantastic, but are lacking on the high end. It's all in the enclosure.

For starters, what is your budget?

so far

this is what i got

Car: SUV

front - polk db6501 component

Back - not planning

sub- None yet

Amp- Alpine mrp f550, I might get a mono mrp f350(i can get a used for 65, is this a good deal?) for the sub.

I don't really have a bugdet, just want to balance it with my other stuff. well, i like to keep it under 150. i plan on buying a used, not abused one, if possible.
