w6 vs type x

ok thanks alot, i'll do that for now (once my for sale threads pick up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif)
then i'll get a second amp and sub since i have 3.3^ft to work with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Edit: I've been wanting to mess around with the X's for awhile i just wasn't sure about the box size and power i should give them.
yeah just be careful, in the right enclosure they can handle 1000 thermal, but since they are such a low-emphasis sub, enclosure heavily affects the mechanical power capacity

yeah i have a friend with that same setup, it's very nice... its a different kind of low than you get from most subs, EXTREMELY high quality LOW-bass no other way to describe it... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
you've had this setup? That sounds like what i'm going for.

I'll take your advice to heart and not put them in too big of an enclosure.

Am I hearing this right....Type X's get louder then W6s??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I've heard both, had the W6's. Comparing what I've heard, in my experience, Type X's sound GREAT in sealed boxes, and because of an extremely nice low fs and good xmax among other things have great low end in sealed boxes. With tpye X's, sealed is for SURE the way to go IMO. But I don't think they get all that loud at all. I like W6's more, while in the same size sealed box they won't have quite the low end the type x puts out, they sound smoother to me, and I would even ported. I had a 10W6, sealed, sounded amazing, then ported to 33hz, sound amazing AND got loud as hell what what it is. Then had 2 13w6's, sealed, then ported. W6's ported correctly, IMO best the type X's. Ability for more low end extension(What subs do you know of that give you better low end (30-38hz) sealed then ported tuned

Especially with 10's if you really like lows, port 2 10W6's low 30's and have nice lows, louder then 2 Type X's sealed.

btw, the ca.com server sucks ***.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I haven't owned a w6, but I auditioned one last week (as you know, I'm looking for a shorter sub than my Type-X), in both a sealed box, and the JL ported box...

I found that the w6 was very musical, much like the Type-X, but it was not as loud as the Type-X on the floor was, regardless of which amp we used... The salesman started with a JL 500/1, and ended with a JL 1000/1... If you were going to run two or more w6's, then that's a different story, but head to head the Type-X wins.

i thought you couldnt seal type x's. i have mine in a ported and it sounds real nice..i guess i should check out the recomended sealed size and see how that sounds.

i had a single 12 inch type x iin a sealed box installed about a week ago powered by a PDX1.1000 and am extremely pleased with it.

prior to that i had dual 12 inch kicker comps in sealed box and after that i was running a single 10w6v2 in a fiberglass enclosure.

I think the type x easily outperforms both those setups. i would reccomend a type x with a PDX1.1000 amp or something similiar to anyone in the market.

its very musical and also provides more than enough bass for my tastes.

I just got my x this week and i'm very happy with it. I need more power tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i also just got a type x. i have it in the mtx T9512D sledgehammer box. sounds nice on about 400rms, but i just got my 1501d today. i'll let ya know...
nice amp, i can't wait to see what difference you think it makes. What is the volume of your box? I'm looking at getting a Cadence ZR10 and giving it 1000 @ 2 ohms.
