Voltage experts!! Help!!!

So what ur saying is I basically wasted 300 bucks on an alternator? With my stock 105 amps I dropped to 11.4 full tilt at idle. With my new 250 amp alt I drop to 11.8 full tilt at idle. So my 300 dollar, 250 amp alt only helped me gain .4 of volts?
Assuming that everything else is fine like you say it is then the only option like i said before is the alt. Take it out and get it benched and see what its really putting out.

 
Its a mechman alt and it was benched with a birthsheet. Thing is I had the same problem with my stock alt reading different voltage from front to rear.....

 
cx_7heaven that post was completely pointless. And I have 1 g34 and 2g31's and a 250 amp alt and your telling me I dont have enough eletrical to keep it higher?
Only pointless if you dont want to believe what the owner of sundown says about his own amps. I posted that for you because obviously you dont know how to find the STICKIED info in the ssa forum about your amplifier. If you dont think you'll like the answer, don't ask the question.

 
yea that sounds weird with 2200rms i am only running a 130amp stock alt, gold duralast upfront, stinger spv70 in the back with a run of 1/0 pos and ground, and at back battery full tilt at idle drops to 12.5-12.7 at the amp drops to 11.9-12.4

with 3k watts with that many batteries and that alt you should br running higher wattage than me for sure, and i have no big 3

Ive read that sticky PLENTY of times. First someone already mentioned those test were with the car OFF. Second nothing was mentioned in his sticky about having an high output alternator.

 
If you had read all the power testing stickies related to the 3000d, you also would have seen where it draws almost 400 amps of current. That would explain why your 250 amp alt doesnt do much, and why he ran it with the vehicle off( to save the alt).

More then likely just playing music it wont be drawing the full amperage. If anything if it does draw lets say 350 amps, a 250 amp alt and 3 batteries should do the job to keep it up. Considering I was running a 105 amp alt while running it at .5 as well. Voltage went down to 11.4 as stated.

 
You should ask Jacob. Just by reading his sticky, I see that you need more battery. It sucks that you have to spend more money on batts, but if you want to keep voltage up, thats what you'll have to do.

 
If batteries were the problem wouldnt I be dropping lower then 12.5 at the front battery?
Honestly if I were you I would just let it be. Your voltage isnt really that bad. But it would piss me off that I spent money on an ho alt for a half volt.

It is bad. LOL This isnt right and its pissing me off I cant find out what is going on! If I am correct all batteries should be reading the same voltage.....

 
Have you tried to run additional runs to the back? If your front batt reads higher at full tilt than the back, that tells me that your single run of 0 guage isnt enough, and your losing some current. Do the power wires get warmer to the touch when you crank it? That will tell you something right there.
