vaccum sealed?

What do bandpass enclosures have to do with this discussion?

edit: hmmmm.... a 'double sealed' bandpass box would have no place for the sound to escape.... whoever said this was one of the silliest threads ever... was right lol

Bewbies!

I didnt see anything about this as I skimmed through it but I would like to go ahead and make this point seeing as how Im studying to be a mechanical egineer and have a good bit of background in Chemistry and Physics also. First of all, it would it be **** near impossible to make the box vacuum sealed due to it being constructed out of wood and the speakers themselves not being air tight. Now, the more scientific explaination, vacuum sealing something means that you are taking all of the air molecules out of something. This means that there is absolutely NO pressure on the inside of this enclosure IF you do happen to make it vacuum sealed. Which means that there is A LOT of pressure coming in on it from the outside where all the air molecules are pushing down it it and there are none inside it to balance the pressure. This in turn means that the speaker will NOT hit or even move because there is so much pressure on it from the outside. And if you did get the speaker to hit, you would almost immediately tear it to shreds because of all the pressure on it and the rapid deformation of it.

-If you are too lazy to read all that or try to understand it, what Im saying is that since there are no air molecules to balance the pressure inside the box the same as the outside, the speakers flat out wont work properly. As a matter of fact, they will more than likely get severly damaged.

you don't need to be studying engineering to know you can't vacuum seal something that's not airtight.

And yes, this entire idea is silly. But i don't know if the idea was ever to COMPLETELY vacuum the enclosure. Flat surfaces, and especially ones made from pressure formed wood products, and thin plastic speakers, wouldn't lend themselves well to the amount of force they'd be subjected to.

The fact that you even acknowledged this thread with a reply makes me quesiton your engineering background. I wouldn't put this forum in your resume.

his engineering degree is fine and it is a sad story that he even has to clarify what is being said here. read it again... understand what he is saying... then STFU and dont say something so **** silly again.... newb questions are okay... stoooooopid are not!

a vacuum sealed speaker box??? I just dont get where anyone would come up with this that is serious about car audio.... let alone any basic knowledge of physics.

If it's hot.. dont touch it..you will get burnt

if you are high up somewhere--dont jump off of it.. gravity works.

every action creates an opposite and equal reaction.

read a book... you will gain some knowledge...however minute--- I promise,

LOL!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif

I completely acknowledged the fact that it wouldnt work anyways. But I was just telling him why it wouldnt be a good idea if he turns around and tries to make a box out of inch thick plexiglass and silicons EVERYTHING air tight shut. Basically just telling him it was a stupid *** idea, but still trying to be nice.

So what if we vaccuum seal the box, and then port it?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hitbybrick.gif.68a672fae224041f00769a97c2c1bf2d.gif

I'm going to start my plans now for my vaccuum sealed double sealed bandpass box.

Should be tight yo.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
