Using External Amp Fuses ?

never drew 600 watts? wtf?? it was back in the day on 8g wire with stock alt keenwood 1021. it was 600+ watts crackin full blast. and worse case you would be better off going a little under that 50 amps over.
And you actually tested this with a DMM? I doubt it. Or you're just thinking you had a 30amp fuse when you really had more.

LOL says the guy that answers a question not knowing the actual answer. even by you 1 amp per 10 watts he only needs 350 amps yet you suggest 400. you are the retard
wee todd it sofa king wee todd it
How many 3000 watt amps have you installed? Serious question. I have installed more equipment than you have ever seen in your life.

yea, cause if you`re running it at 4ohms and theres a problem you want it to start drawing more current than it needs before it pops the fuse. and what do you think will happen????
So what good does blowing the fuse if the amp is designed to handle that current? What will that truly accomplish other than having to replace fuses more often?

Of course it does. But do you take out the fuses the factory gave you on your amp if you arent running it at full load? I highly doubt it. All it has to do is protect against a dead short, so fuse for max current draw.

Again, you're making assumptions. In any situation I can think of, I'll always fuse to the minimum. I'd rather pop a fuse than use an output transistor as a fuse. My way I get added protection. Your way, you don't. I also don't worry about things like dead shorts because I don't work on car audio with my battery ground connected. Here's what I do and I've been doing it for 15 years. I always fuse everything load correctly, no matter whether it's an amp, h/u, driving lights, or any other car accessory.

/thread?????????

i`ve owned more equipment than you have ever installed and i`ll bet anything you want on that. you should keep ur mouth shut when talking to some1 you don`t know aboout what you have done retard

If the amp is designed to carry a load, why fuse it for less than that? Seems redundant to me. I am not saying what you are doing isnt ok, but if you ask the manufacturer they will tell you to fuse at maximum load as opposed to current load.

Good one buddy.

If the amp is designed to carry a load
Well in your case since you put yourself in situations where a dead short is possible, wouldn't it make sense to underfuse an amp and have the fuse pop sooner than later?

I mean for craps sake, we're talking about a small amount of money here for fuses.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I quit. I don't want to play anymore. Replying to you is dumbing me down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

you`re just stupid now gtfo retard. you realize how stupid you just made yourself sound??
You're the one looking real stupid right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif You obviously don't understand ohms, voltage, and current.

Where did I ever say I work on cars with ground intact? I have, it depends on what I am doing though. I also have never dead shorted anything nor had any problems with amps blowing.

But people should definitely take your word for it over whoever designed and built the amp.

You brought up dead shorts. That generally only happens while working on electrical with the battery ground connected. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Still never happened to me. But that is in fact what the fuse is there for.

where in GA are you?? you really need some1 to show/teach you how to do this. the reading online just isn`t going to cut it in real world installing. you can quote and use your lil calc but experiance trumps all
