using 2 sub amps,

Actually I understand what you mean, but I was looking at it from a different angle and didn't realize that until you showed me. So yeah, waves don't match and it will just sound funky.....alright, I think I might just take the terminals out of my old boxes and use them. Thanks, that was really informative.

^^ a good description of bridging. Even though that is talking about bridging a 2-channel amp, the exact same everything holds true for strapping 2 mono amps.

^ a good pic from it (highlight it to see it better). The bottom one represents what you would be trying to do with your two amps.

I wonder what would happen if you were to bridge two amps together?
What do you mean? Remember "bridging" is the same thing as strapping so same rules apply. The term bridging is normally reserved for combining 2 channels on the same amp while "strapping" is usually used when combining 2 channels of different amps. Same thing though.

Well the amps I got are 2-channel
Fact remains that the signal coming out from your amps is the same and not 180 degrees shifted. On top of that, each amp would be seeing a 2-hom load (half of the 4 ohm load your subs would be showing) and they are not stable @2ohm bridged.

yea, I could wire the subs in a series and not paralle to create a 16ohm load, which would come out at 4 or 8, don't feel like doing the math now but oh well. I guess I'll just have to add another cup to the box, only problem is I need matching cups! maybe I'll just wire one side through the port and order another later, then after both cups are installed might carpet or paint the box...

Thanks for the info.

I am the original poster and to clear things up. I need 2000w at 2 ohms but I want to spend no more than 400. I could get 2 crossfire vr100d's for less than a 2000d. I was thinking about strapping the 1000d's instead of gettin a 2000d. I am going to power either 3 or 4 JL 12w6v2's. 3 would make a 2.66 ohm load and 4 would make a 2 ohm load.

I am not exactly sure of what amp or amps i am going to run thats why the question was not specific. It was just a general question on straping 2 amps together. But do you have any recommendations for me?
