Everyone here has been helpful and now I would like to know if I’m doing the right choice of changing my front component 6x9 alpine type r set to some 6.5 dead bounce Arnold ? Should I stay with my alpines or change. What will the difference be ?

They sound fine within their frequency range. I run Arnold’s myself. If the rest of your stereo is capable of playing bass up to 100 or 110 hertz then you should be fine.

Also, just as a side note. When I turned on my deaf bonces for the first time, they sounded absolutely awful. So bad that I changed my crossover to full range and started playing bass through them to try and blow them up so I could send them back for warranty. ( I was sure something was wrong with them.) After a few minutes of abuse they started sounding a little better. I turned the crossover back on and let them play. After about 30 minutes they sounded completely different than they did when I first started playing them. Speakers almost always sound a little bit different after they are broken in, but this was the most dramatic change I have ever heard. So basically let them play for a little bit before thinking that you made a huge mistake.

Ok well I haven’t pulled the trigger on purchasing the dead bounce just don’t want to buy them and be disappointed I’m just really looking for something louder but with a clean sound also. My truck is a crex

well I have not just purchase the deaf bounce I just don’t want to be disappointed I just want my sound louder but clean also. My truck is a crew cab sierra with stock H/U and a audiocontrol DSP with alpine type R all 4 doors and tweeters. For subs I have 2 6 1/2 Savard high q.

The Deaf bonce unit are not mdbass, they are midrange drivers. They will play pretty loud from 150 up. I don't support the company right now as they are owned by a Russian corporation and I speak with my $$, my preference, that's on me and I didn't know it until someone told me sooo...

Using pro-style mids up front means that your sub better play up into the 150Hz rang or you are going to lose a lot of the kick of a god midbass driver. They will not play down where you traditionally want a front stage midbass to play.

As for the driver itself, nothing special, It is a 95 db midrange driver so fairly efficient but for front stage there much better options.

What are they going to be paired with tweeter wise?

If your talking about just replacing the full range type R, you might be disappointed in the results. You're talking about going from a full range driver that is 50" larger than a 6.5" midrange that you're looking at so you will lose most of your midbass and a good portion of the highs, louder mids, but at a cost of highs and lows.

Well, there is always a bypass that can be McGuyvered. So next time you want to tackle that task, post it. We can help.

I agree with DJ. Pro style speakers are designed for large ported enclosures and lack bottom end without an enclosure. Plus they tend to suffer...
