Up firing sub in Integra OK?

Would it be OK to mount a sub facing upwards in my trunk? The only thing I'm worried about is the hatch cover that would be a couple inches away from the driver. Would that make any difference at all?

It's a sealed enclosure.

Sorry should have been more specific. Yes it's the DC2 Integra.

Thanks for the reply, if it actually hurt performance at all I was thinking of cutting a huge hole in it and putting in some acoustically transparent material, but hopefully it won't be a problem.

i face my ported idMAX so that it fires toward the rear of my integra. i can't face mine up because of the wire comoing out the back of the box but i get best results with it facing toward the rear.. is there a particular reason u want it firing up? does it sound better to you or is it for aesthetics? just wondering

Just aesthetic reasons. I want the speaker on the longer side of the box as opposed to one of the ends. I am building it myself so I can put it on whatever side I choose.

i never tried facing it upward actually my box wouldnt fit that way i dont think. and if it could i still wouldnt be able to because the wire runs from the sub to outside the box the box doesn't use terminals.. if i flip it so that it faces up im afraid of pinching the wire off.
