Help! Amps won't turn on!

Hey guys,

I've just installed my 2 new amps:

An Eclipse PA4212 and an Alpine MRD-1005

Everything installed perfectly, but one thing wrong...

The amps won't turn on!

I'm using mostly KnuKonceptz wires and distributors, i'm using a Power Distributor and a Ground Distributor.

All wires and cables are brand new..

Any ideas as to why they may not be turning on... please reply, thanks alot!

check it with your DMM, and did you hook up remote?

Make sure you dont have any blown fuses.

Also messure the remote wire with a DMM and make sure it is getting 12v.

and if u did, i have mistakenly forgotten the under hood fuse before and had that problem, small thing, but took up some time for a small slip of the mind, LoL

Hey, i just checked it all with my DMM, and from the battery out, i'm getting the power, but when i go to the back of my car (where the amps are) theres no power from the cable, i think i may have a bad ground, because thats all i can think of... my fuses are all fine, i just checked them all too.

Any other ideas until tomorrow when i find a new ground, let me know!

Hey Guys,

After finding a new ground and still having the same problem... i thought about how the car is getting it's current...

I then realized that i have a KnuKonceptz Positive battery terminal, and the KnuKonceptz ALSO sells a negative terminal designed to do the same as the positive...

Should i go ahead and buy the negative terminal too and use that as my ground for the amps?

Take your dmm and check the fuse on both sides. The fuse or fuse holder may be faulty. If it is good up front then you have a bad ground for sure in the back.

Good way to tell if you are getting power is to do the "spark test"

Just remove the fuse, plug is back in and if it sparks the curcuit is live.

You can also do this with the ground wire on the truck floor to see if you have a good ground.

Awesome, I went to check the other fuse under the hood and the power cord had fallen right out, i didn't tighten it in...

All is working perfectly now, thanks again!
