under powering my sub?

underpowering with clean power can't hurt a sub...although clipping an "underpowered" signal will.
tsk tsk tsk:nono: , you shouldn't say 'clean power'. It confuses the n00bs and should be outlawed. I like 'Clipped Signal better'//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

so is it the rms or peak

You want to give your sub the RMS, giving it peak all the time will probably end up hurting it. Underpowering CANNOT hurt subs, else everyone would have to play their subs at full volume all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
