Umm Houston we have a problem.... A big one

Alright, that puts a damper on things. We have a couple situations to deal with now. First option - the amp was not new, was working properly but was used previously and beat on with low voltage and clipping and your friend's short use was the straw that broke the camel's back. Second option - the amp was new, your friend killed it, as previously described. Third option - the amp was new but was defective, and appeared to be working properly when you set it up, but that short use killed it.
See a theme here? Regardless of the condition of the amp upon purchase it is dead now. You probably won't be able to get anything from the seller because it's Fleabay. Avoid that place at any and all cost for expensive equipment.
Well, it does have a 14 day money back guarantee. If I ***** to a guy with perfect feedback and say the amp was already broken then I may have some luck

But you have no proof it was working in the first place, in fact it appears it was in good working condition when you bought it.

Its worth a shot. If the amp was truly in perfect condition I wonder what did it. RCA are ran opposite the power wire. Good ground. Not clipping. ( I heard no distortion)

What tone did you use and what volume on the HU did you set the gains at? Also, your ear is absolutely horrible at detecting distortion. There's a reason professionals set gains with oscopes.

I cant remember. I belive it was around 50. I didnt set them by ear but when i used the DMM i didnt hear any

You don't have a very strong case here, man.
I just don't see how it could fry. Do you think its fried or could it be anything else? Lets say the subs were maxed out, the HU would only be at 50% volume so I doubt the HU was clipping it may have been but it would surprise me. The amp was set at a low gain since we didn't have enough batteries. Even when we first set the amp it smelled and heated up.

Like I already explained, he probably turned it up higher than the volume the gains were set at, which is a huge no-no. Get an oscope, find the volume the HU clips at and go a click or two below it, and set your gains there. NEVER turn it past that point.

Of course nobody is mentioning the elephant in the living room that Soundstream is pretty low end Chinese junk. There's a reason their "2500W" amp has an MSRP of 225$ and it's NOT because American Bass, Sundown, DC, DD, etc. are all evil and greedy.

If you had bought a high quality amp that failed you'd at least have a solid reliable amp after a repair. Now you have a doorstop that would cost you your purchase price to repair.

About the only thing you could blame on the seller is if the board shows signs of repair. IF it was blown and some rookie tried to repair it by just randomly throwing parts at it it is highly probable that it would run for a little while and then fail. Otherwise, it's most likely that it blew from being poorly designed and poorly built, using low quality parts and labor.

You will not read a story like this involving a Zapco, Audison, Zed, Sundown, AB, DC, DD, Crescendo, etc. amplifier. In fact after I read the original post I knew it would be one of these sketchy China made ones.

Well, unless hes lying to me, he said he never played past half cause his little brother would A) get mad B) Snitch on him. I think it was faulty.

I agree with you to a point. It can be luck of the draw. I have a MB Quart and it hasn't failed yet. ( 1 1/2 years running) He has tight budget and this amp fit in well in his budget. Also, it seemed to have pretty good reviews. Not only on store websites but people posting on here.
