avoid sla?

I set my 4 channel amp gain with a dmm. Its supposed to be at 15.5 v. I got that number with amp crossover on all pass, and frequencies set at zero. Everything on headunit off and at zero. 3/4 volume on radio. 1000 test tone.

I turned up sla . It goes from negitive 4 to plus 4. I put it on 2 and checked voltage. while it sounds louder, the voltage went from 15 to about 22volts. Is that gonna do any damage?

If your using SLA to make things louder, then yes it will cause damage. SLA is just to even out the output from each source, CDs are normally louder then auxillary and radio, you would then set it so that its even volume all around when your switching between sources so your amp gain settings are applied properly to every source.

Got u...makes sense. Thanks
