Was it insured when it was shipped? If so...don't mess with it at all until you file a claim, and get what you can from it. You may get reimbursed for the entire driver, or for a re-cone...but not if you touch it first.
Take some time, go through the channels, and see what you can get done.
EDIT: Scuffs are one thing, but a "deep gouge" could weaken the surround, which can turn into a tear, which can lead to non-linear excursion, and bad bad things eventually.
