type x vs. FI q

My 12" Type X has sounded great in all of the boxes I have put it in(at least 7). It is a low-end beast. I have not heard an FI Q so I cannot comment towards their SQ and total output.

lol:crap:
if u cant hear a difference between a 4 ohm wire and 1 ohm then...well i dont even know what to say:crap:

ure right ima newb:veryhapp:

probably cant hear the difference between an ab or d class either:wow:
just so you will shut up the amp Im ordering tomorow has class a/b topology which is less efficient but supposively less distortion.......see Im wanting a low end beast so the type x seems like the way to go any one have experience putting it in a smaller sealed enclosure like .6 cubes maybe .7? The type x recomends a little bigger box than the q but has less xmax. Does xmax have anything to do with how strong the lows end notes are?

idmax??? I considered the idqv3 but im pretty sure I wanna do 1000 watts or somewhere close to that....budget for the sub is close to 250

I was refering to the qv3, forgetting that you wanted to put 1000+ to a single sub

and the max is over budget, sorry

I am at the same point, but with qv3 and the FI q, but I am only putting 500 each to 2 of them. I am uup in the air with the decision though. when you get your sub and hook it up let us know what you think.

will do....when did diamond stop making the d5 amps. I was looking into the diamond d3 1000.1 but b/c its no longer listed on ebay and I cant find anywhere else to buy it I found the mb quart and ended up liking that one better

i was trying to tell u that an amp that actually sounds good @1 ohm and putts out as much power as u want cost a shitload of money and probably draws a shitload of current as well...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

if u still havent got the amp id suggest dls A6...

u did state that SQ is a priority, if u want mindless pounding get a d class monster take it to 1ohm or less and see all the teenage girls fall in your lap:veryhapp:

and to answer your Q, putting a typex in a 0.7 cubic feet(25, 26 liters if im not mistaken) will probably take the kick bass to its finest from that sub, but the low end monster desire will be very hard to achice in such a small box

but seeing how everyone has to be a dick including u, cuz theyre stone deaf go buy wtf u want and sell it in a month when u realize im right:wow:

Ive used both the X and the Q and id say they are pretty close Q got a bit louder off the same power. To be honest tho my infinity kappa perfect dvq sounded better then both.

You do realize that the human ear cannot audibly notice distortion until it's at right around 3%, right?

A well designed amp should not color the sound at all, period, regardless of the load it is driving. The only thing the OP should be worried about, is the current draw associated with the given load, will his electrical system be able to keep up?

If the Type X is designed for smaller enclosures, then a small box should not hinder its ability to play lower frequencies, especially when you factor in cabin gain. I'd rather aim in the lower to middle recommended box sizes, and let the cabin gain make up the low end, instead of building a larger box, and getting your self a bloated bottom end, which would probably go against what the OP is trying to accomplish.

^^every piece of equipment colors the sound a bit, wether we hear it or not, and yes in a noisy enviroment such as a car we cant hear that distortions but i was refering to the amps control over the sub at low ohmage in the first place..i will never stop crying over my two helix hxa 1000 i had on my front system, the best amp i ever had...powered my sub for a while, then a two channel a/b class then a rf 1000.1.....the later 2 dont even come close....maybe its just me..

Speakers might have their own tonal signature, but an amplifier does what its name implies. It amplifies an input signal, it should do nothing more than that.

At this point, I'm not even sure you know what you're trying to say. "but i was refering to the amps control over the sub at low ohmage in the first place.."

Huh?
