type x vs. FI q

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark, and say that the driver it self, more specifically the suspension, and the enclosure are going to play a much larger roll than the damping factor of the amp.

I would take those magazine reviews with a grain of salt if i were you.
right because in most circumstances those products they advertise pay for the advertisement. therefore most reviews are bias towards the companies that give them money. You have yourself a tough decision.

I dont know why because i have never owned either product, but i think the alpine would preform better in the box you want with the power you are giving it. Alpine is alpine and they make a superb type-r and the type-s's you ran were pretty **** amazing. I would go with the X because of the box/power and because its not the **** forum boner!

in a sealed box yes...
...and a ported box as well.

The ONLY time a driver in a ported enclosure loses control is under the tuning frequency, ever.

At tuning, the driver is actually moving LESS than a sealed counter part, and above tuning it has the same characteristics of a sealed enclosure.
