Type R VS JL W0

Hey I'm helping out a friend of mine. I just wanted to know which would be louder and still have good SQ. (2) Alpine Type R 12" or (3) JL W0 10in?

i'd go the two type-r's route.

i was not even close to impressed w/ how 2 12" w3v2's sounded sealed. so i can only imagine w0's would be worse. ive also heard 3 10w0 sealed in my friends reg cab silverado. they seemed punchy, but if you want them to be 'loud' id try a different route.

never personally heard type-r's but from reviews and comments from every1, they seem to be a good way to go. and the 05 models seem super solid.

Type R's hands down, can't even really compair the two.

I think the w0's would take it hands down. My friend has two 15's sealed and they sound great.

I have 150 watts to each of my 12W0 in a BandPass box and it's loud enough in my old Nissan SE than I would feel light headed (they took up the entire back extended cab). I swear I put to shame all mkinds of other subs as far as loudenss by ear (not measured) However they were lacking in the SQ department by a LONG shot. Seal is another story.

I'm not talking about going against RE's n such but for cheap subs they srue got loud.

However I now need to find something else that will give me the SQ I need.

I would go with the Type R's anyways.

type-r's would take it hands down imo.

there is nothing great about jl's bottom line besides the name.

i cant imagine what you think sounds decent if you think w0's sound 'great'

2 12w3's in a 3^3 sealed boxing being pushed 250/piece sounded sloppy/muddy and did not sound loud to the ear.

i can only imaginewhat the w0s would be like.

I wish I could show you people always said I was nuts then they would get in my tiny truck and I'd turn them on and they would be asking for me to turn it down very shortly....Course the Bandpass enclosure kinda muffles the distortion, but they did sound good on certain notes. However I would not buy this setup again. But it was alot of fun back in HS 8 years ago. Amazingly these subs still work perfectly. JL subs are build well.

One guy was not impressed with my setup, he said it sounded pretty good, however....I got in his TRUCK that had 10 10 inch Cerwin Vega 10's and I shut up pretty quick, I felt my brain ratteling at 1/4th volume lol, actualy sounded clean too. jsut goes to show almost any sub can perform well if you have them set up right and if you have enough of them hehe

Type R's are going to be better in this case though for sure.

type R. even if it was 10W3V2 vs 10" type R, id vote type R

this guys was talking all kinds of shit about how his eight bazooka 12"s sounded hella good in his single cab s10. amazingly enough he was put to shame by two tens in my truck. the install makes all the difference.
