Type r speakers...

Got em! ...And they're awesome! The clarity is beautiful. Had the tweeters mounted at side mirror level in the Mustang. Sounds great. Powered by the reciever the tweeters are not obnoxiously high. Just right. Installer liked it and agreed with me that an amp would make the components scream. He recommended powering just the front speakers with an amp and letting the back speakers run off the Head Unit. Now I'm contemplating returning the Type S 5x7's and simply using factory rear deck speakers. Then getting an amp for the Type R's. Ahhhhh...decisions...

Eugenics, you like to have a lower or higher power amp. Alpine has a 2 channel at 50 W RMS and 4 channel with 40 W RMSx4 bridged it's 100 W RMSx2 I think with a max of 360 W overall. The type R's might be capable of handling a little more though. It would be very comforting to know they were performing their best in my setup!

No, didn't get the Mach 460. Probably good, less wires and speakers to deal with. Although I haven't properly figured out the ones I have. I've tried to make putting in my recently purchased receiver a clean install using wiring harness for the car, but I must have the wrong harness. There is a big time short somewhere! Blew the instrument panel light fuse last night. Once I eliminate the short I'll be ready to decide if I can live with their current output or not.
