Focal 690 CV1 vs. Boston SL95 vs. MB Quart RCE 269

I'm looking into getting some high end 6X9s to replace my factory ones in the IS300. If you have experience with anyone of the above speakers, please share your thoughts. Also, if you can suggest any other brand/model 6X9s, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for high SQ and all around performance.

I already have a set of Boston 6.5 pros for the front. I'll also be getting a sub, but not sure what to use yet.

This will all be run using the old Nakamichi PA506 amp.

Thanks

Hmmm... was thinking about that, but what is the max. size mids you can fit into a 6X9? I'm thinking something like a 5 1/4" woofer maybe. In which case, you should get better clarity in mids and highs. But then you loose out on some of the bass that 6X9s tend to offer. Also, for a good component set, I'm probably looking at more than $250 for the set, plus making some mounting plates for the components.

Do you think going with components that are cheaper than say $200 would sound better than high end 6X9s?

eh, it's up to you. you'll want most of the audio comming from the front anyway. If you wanted to get the 6x9's I'd go with the bostons as they'll probably be a little better at mid-bass. Focal's always sound too warm to me.

See sig. I listened to the Bostons at Tweeter and they probably have more bass than my Focals. I have like 140W going to the Focals now and they do the job nicely. I am not an audio tuner so they may be capable of more. **** things were expensive! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I didn't realize until I researched it but mine are CV's and are rated at 200W with a range of 45-20,000. The CV1's are a notch below these at 160W and a range of 50-20,000. I was wondering why mine cost more than the ones on E-Bay!

the SL95's are a great sounding speaker, and will handle plenty of power. if you already have boston's in the front, then why not keep to what you know you like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
